TELANGANA
Telangana state is a blessed land, thriving with vibrant arts and crafts scene. Each region has a unique story to tell. The patronage of kings and dynasties for several centuries led to a unique synthesis of various cultures, which is clearly visible in the development of a unique arts and crafts tradition in the state.
Bidri craft is the pride of the Telangana region. This unique art of silver engraved on metal was brought initially by Iran migrants to the region. Bidri art involves using an alloy of Copper and Zinc, called Gunmetal. Telangana is famous world-wide for its amazing Bronze castings that require exquisite skills for creating incredible idols. Nirmal town is world-famous for its varied range of handicrafts made using best traditional techniques to create masterpieces. Nirmal arts involve use of natural dyes to create oil paintings, wall hangings, lacquered furniture, toys, trays, bowls, pictures, boxes and other marvellous art works of export quality. Other prominent art works of the state include Nizamabad panels, Nirmal painted furniture, Dokra castings, Silver Filigree, Cheriyal Scroll Paintings, Pembarthi brassware etc.
Banjara Needle Crafts 
The Banjara Needle craft work is practiced by the tribals commonly called as ‘Banjaras’ of Telangana. The craft work is made up of needlework with geometric patterns of squares, diamonds and triangles. Colorful and different types of stitches with mirror work, beads and shells are made on rich and brightly colored clothes. These crafts bring an exotic feel when used as home decors and this is the reason for which they are extensively preferred by people.
The Banjaras in Telangana are gypsies in ancient times who led a nomadic life. They travel from place to place and do a vocation related to their travel. Banjara needle crafts are handmade fabrics made by Banjaras.
Banjara needle craft is a needle craft embroidery in the state of Telangana. The craft has evolved through centuries across generations. It is an embroidery and mirror work on tapestry. The work pieces are bright-coloured. Banjara needle craft is unique to the region of Telangana. It involves use of simple needles, embroidery thread, original fabrics (cotton or woolen), and needs high proficiency in the craft. Combined together, they create splendid pieces of art.
